Inspiration from Monk Monte
Being in Trinidad for the 2015 Carnival season was a mind blowing experience. Its the first time I have been back to TNT in well over 10 years due to my rigorous touring schedule with Black Violin. Its hard to not gain inspiration from a country that contains so much vibes within its borders, and this Carnival season was one for the ages. Aside from being able to hang out with my Father, in which he gave me and my cousins the history of Carnival as seen through his eyes as well as the history of Panorama; I was able to witness the incredible work ethic of Monk Monte. For those that don't know who Monk is, he is none other than the Machel Montano. Say what you want about him, but the amount of work he put in this Carnival season was amazing and inspirational. He literally released 3 albums of music within the span of 3-4 months. I'm not sure if this large body of work in one Carnival season is a good thing for Soca music, but it inspired me to work harder on the projects I already have in place, and to also get started early on making music for the 2016 Carnival season. As both Diddy and The Wu Tang Clan have stated before, The Saga Continues.
